Understanding Medicines for Better Healthcare
Medicine can best be used to combat diseases when its actions in the human body are fully understood. The Department of Pharmacology at Fazaia Ruth Pfau Medical College equips students with knowledge of how drugs act in the body and how the body responds to drugs.
Students explore not only the effects of individual molecules but also their clinical relevance in real-world scenarios. The department promotes a broad and holistic approach that integrates scientific, social and ethical perspectives to produce competent healthcare professionals.
Pharmacology is introduced in the third year and covers physiological effects of drugs, mechanisms of action, chemical structure, pharmacokinetics and adverse drug reactions. Teaching is supported by modern audiovisual systems and well-equipped laboratories for in-vitro experimental studies.
